Lab: Avionics Workbook Samples

The avionics workbook sample pack lives at samples/avionics-workbook/. It contains synthetic passive artifacts for ARINC 429 repeated-word evidence, MIL-STD-1553 transaction-shaped evidence, and AFDX / ARINC 664 conceptual virtual-link observation.

The pack is intended for offline inspection and documentation tests. It does not define aircraft hardware setup, live capture, transmit, polling, replay, PCAP parsing, switch configuration, routing, end-system scheduling, or conformance checking. Each expected record states what the observed artifact can show and what still requires semantic authority.

Use the repository files directly:

  • samples/avionics-workbook/README.md
  • samples/avionics-workbook/manifest.yml
  • samples/avionics-workbook/raw/
  • samples/avionics-workbook/expected/

Bounded Exercise

Choose one raw artifact and its matching expected record. Without adding operational context, identify:

  1. the directly visible field, word, or transaction boundaries;
  2. one timing, sequence, or counterpart pattern supported by the artifact; and
  3. one claim that still requires label, terminal-map, virtual-link, or application authority.

For the AFDX artifact, keep redundant A/B copies separate from successive sequence observations. For MIL-STD-1553, distinguish expected broadcast status suppression from a missing status word. For ARINC 429, do not turn repeated label evidence into aircraft state. Finish with Evidence supports and Evidence does not support statements.
